On Saturday, July 14 the Czestochowa icon reached Lida. The news of the arrival of Our Lady spread widely. People stopped working, changed their plans, just to greet the Mother of God. At the town border a little surprise. A large group of people gathered by the cross there. Not so long ago the cross was not there, because the communists cut it down.
But people put a new cross in the old place and now they felt that there is just where they have to wait for the Mother of God. The car had to stop. Some emotions, prayer, and soon a column of cars formed with pro-life flags to enter the city center. Our Lady of Czestochowa arrived with an escort and the sound of car horns, so that everyone saw and heard that this is really something very important.
The Czestochowa Icon was hosted in the church of St. Gregory The Victor (Georgi Pobednosca), where everyone began with a short prayer. After its completion in art school first a press conference was held and then a conference for teachers, health and social services workers. In the afternoon a seminar was held for priests and nuns on how to do consultations for pregnant women in crisis pregnancy.
Many people have expressed willingness to further cooperate with the pro-life organizations in Belarus: the Foundation "Open Hearts" from Mogilev - affiliate of Human Life International and the orthodox Centre "Matula" from Minsk.
