Students from the Washington Pazmino Vargas Fiscal School of the parish of San Jacinto de Bua in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas were present to welcome the Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa that travels the world in a pilgrimage, carrying the message that is so much need by the Latin American peoples.
The visit was from Thursday September 7 to Sunday September 10. On Thursday, the Holy Eucharist was concelebrated by Father Leon Juchniewicz, who is the Icon's custodian in Ecuador, Father Romel Freire from the parish previously visited by Our Lady, and Father Luis Alberto Hincapie, parish priest of St. Vincent Parish of Bua.
As Saturday is a day dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, at night on Saturday there was a procession with the Icon through the most important streets of the town. With candles lit the parishioners sang songs in honor of Our Lady, as well as recited the Holy Rosary.
The following day, on Sunday, the farewell Mass was celebrated at 11 am with the presence of some parish groups that actively help as John XXIII and Little Brothers of Mary.
For Father Hincapie this visit was very comforting, since the mission and the purpose of the pilgrimage is the defense of human life, from conception to natural death. "In our region there are many cases of abortion and I believe the message reached the hearts of young people. As a confessor it is very sad to have knowledge of this reality, but I think they were impressed with the message. The Virgin Mary, through the Icon, tells us that She has also suffered like us and that She does not abandon us", said the priest.
