On August 14, in the afternoon, the Icon of Our Lady of Częstochowa arrived in Gdańsk. The first place she visited was the Orthodox parish of st. Nicholas in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz. Our Lady came in the "Life Mobile". The parish priest, Fr. Dariusz Jóźwik, assisted by parishioners, met the Mother of God and brought her to the church.
The Akathist singing began in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the oldest song of the Church praising Mary, which is known and sung to this day both in the Orthodox and Catholic Church.
In the spoken word, Fr. Dariusz noted that the Visitation of the Czestochowa Icon on the pilgrimage "From Ocean to Ocean" in defense of life is a great joy and pride for the entire parish. The Orthodox Church stands firmly in the position of defense of life. He reminded that on this night, called the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, the Orthodox Church observe and prays, so he invited all parishioners to continue praying during the all-night vigil, although the Icon will go on.
