After the unfortunate accident of the Life Mobile in Fulda, Our Lady of Czestochowa arrived on October 28 by car, with only a slight delay in Kassel, at the church dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima - the Queen of Peace. Reverend Julian Marecik, the pastor of the Polish Catholic Mission, organized a grand welcome.
Even before entering the church, he chanted the song "O Mary, you are welcome" to the sound of ringing bells, he said prayer of welcome and incensed Holy Icon. Subsequently, the Icon was brought inside the church in a procession, where the Fanfare of Jasna Gora resounded joyfully. The representatives of the parish greeted Our Blessed Mother and genuflected before Her, placing flowers at the foot of the Icon. The music, accompanying the welcoming ceremony, invited the gathered to meditate and reflect on the meaning of life and its protection.
The Liturgy of the Holy Eucharist was concelebrated in German and Polish. Reverend Paul Schupp, from the German parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, presided over the Mass, assisted by the pastor, Fr. Julian Marecik and the vicar, Fr. Mariusz Golonko. Approximately six hundred faithful attended the celebration of this solemn liturgy.
The sermon was given by Father Marecik. He made it clear to the gathered, how important it is to protect human life from conception until natural death. He also encouraged prayer and mortification for this intention, as well as participation in the numerous initiatives of prayer and various pro-life actions. He also referred to the teaching of the Blessed Pope John Paul II, who so often spoke up for the unborn children, calling for resistance against the culture of death.
The solemn liturgy was dignified by beautiful organ and instrumental music, as well as lovely singing. Everyone sang Polish Marian songs. After the celebration of the Holy Mass, the veneration of the Icon with the recitation of the Holy Rosary followed. Numerous priests from Kassel and the surrounding areas also attended this event. The song "Black Madonna" resounded in both languages – German and Polish – to bid Our Lady farewell. The church bells rang again.
Then the leaders of the pro-life movement and many people of good will, together with the Mother of God went to the largest abortion clinic in Kassel, where they continued to pray the Holy Rosary. Similar prayer vigils for the unborn - with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Rosary - are held every last Sunday of the month at 12:30 pm, in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, and are preceded by the celebration of the Eucharist at 11:30 am. Simultaneously, the Rosary prayer is being conducted in front of the abortion clinic in Kassel. This time, the Icon of Czestochowa accompanied those praying in front of the clinic.
