On Thursday, February 21st a group of pro-lifers from the next Spanish diocese – Getafe – took over the care of the Icon of Our Lady in Ajalvir. The arrival at the first place in the diocese of Getafe – Pinto, took place almost an hour earlier than planned. The Capuchin Sisters were already waiting for the Mother of God and carried the Icon into their chapel themselves.

The chapel houses the well-known statue of Our Lady of Assumption into Heaven, the patroness of Pinto. The ceremonies were presided over by the pastor of the parish of St. Joseph, father Alvaro Cardenas. He explained the idea of the peregrination of the Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa across the world in defence of human life to the people.

The Holy Rosary in the intention of the defence of life and family was said and later the Holy Mass was celebrated. At  9 PM there was an emotional farewell ceremony and the Mother of God went to the convent of St Clara sisters in Valdemoro.

P1090143The sisters of St. Clara from the convent of the Incarnation welcomed the visit of the Mother of God wholeheartedly. The convent has been founded relatively recently as the foundation of the town of Soria. The permanent adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament is held here. The sisters kept the prayer vigil with the Mother of God throughout the night.

In the morning of the 22nd of February, at 9AM the solemn Holy Mass was celebrated, and then the veneration was continued till 11.30 AM, when the Icon had to leave.

At noon the Mother of God arrived at the School of Our Lady of Valdemoro for girls. The Icon was welcomed by around 400 girls, who had prepared a beautiful ceremony.

The night vigil was led by the Carmelite sisters from the convent founded in 1925 by the foundation of St Maravillas de Jesus. It is located next to the famous monument of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was unveiled on the 30th of May 1919 to commemorate the dedication of Spain to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After the Holy Mass the Mother of God left for the town of Getafe.
