The Pilgrim Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa traveled by plane from the US to Leon, Guanajuato, accompanied by Fr. James Heyd. Fr. Heyd is a fluent Spanish speaker and he firmly believes that "The Mother of San Juan Pablo II, is the one who has wanted to come to Mexico, as a way of life Ecclesia in America".

The sacred icon came from Chicago, along with a delegation of faithful who accompanied the icon on her pilgrimage through the US as Mr. Christopher Morales, who was attending for nearly a year 2014 12 04aduring the pilgrimage with Fr. Peter West, from Human Life International. The icon came to meet and strengthen relations between leaders struggling for life, human dignity, marriage and family. In these almost fifteen days farewell tour She joined other pilgrims from the US, including Dawn Fitzpatrick, Director from the Office of Respect Life of the Archdiocese of Chicago and Victor Vallejo Garcia, Program Manager of Latino Outreach Office of Respect Life, in a clear demonstration of solidarity and communion between local churches. The venerated image came to Leon, Guanajuato where She was received into the Church of San Pio X.2014 12 04b

On December 4, the icon traveled to the city of Salamanca where, a great feast was held participating in cars procession to welcome the Mother of God. By 6:30pm the procession entered Irapuato where the Eucharist was held at Sacred Heart Parish in Colonia Bellavista.

On December 5, the icon traveled to Queretaro for the Eucharist at 7:00pm with the families of the Shrine of Our Lady of Pueblito in the center of the municipality of Corregidora, which is considered the first place of evangelization in Queretaro and which the queretanos show great reverence.2014 12 06

Saturday December 6, Our Lady was present at the National Vidafest "Healing of wounds from the womb" with Fr. Inocencio Llamas. This event was held in the auditorium of John Paul II Institute for Peace, which was full of participants.

On December 7, the icon arrived by land, for the first time to Mexico City and visited the Church of the Mother of God of Czestochowa, in Tecamachalco, during the Eucharist at 10:30am. Later, She came to the parish of San Juan Pablo II & St. Thomas More, the parish and their families will act as custodians during this stage of the global pilgrimage. TecamachalcoHere She participated in the closing Mass of the course YO + TU = WE for the improvement of the marital relationship sponsored by Vida Florida Foundation, in its sixth Latin American edition, chaired by Fr. Jarosław Szymczak, Polish priest. Afterwards families, children and youth, led a procession with the Icon to the main church where She was placed. Welcome songs of the Vortex Choir of this community and Christmas Concert accompanied Her. At 7:00pm the Sunday Mass was celebrated by the parish priest Fr. Luis A. Monroy Lopez (Mexico), and concelebrated by Fr. James Heyd (USA)

On December 8, Feast of the Immaculate Conception and Human Rights Day, the icon was led by the newly formed organizing committee, to the Old Basilica of Guadalupe Church of Christ the King. The image was greeted at the door by Monsignor Pedro Agustin Rivera Diaz, and once placed in the front the rosary was prayed in four languages (Polish, English, Spanish and Latin).Bazylika Later, with the presence of the pilgrims of Polish - Americans from Chicago the Eucharist at 6:00pm was celebrated by Monsignor Pedro Agustin Rivera Diaz and concelebrated by three Polish priests and an American. It was also attended by many faithful in a place where for many years the sacred image of Our Lady of Guadalupe as a miraculous sign for Bishop Fray Juan de Zumarraga (1531) on the tilma of St. Juan Diego was kept. Around 5:00pm the rosary with the presence of the guests and priests was prayed. On this day members of pro-life groups renewed their commitment.

Then, The icon returned to the Parish of St. Juan Pablo II & St. Thomas More for some days and on December 13 traveled back to Queretaro, to participate in the VidaFest Queretaro event, thanks to the sponsorship of Jose Luis and Liz a couple from Union de Voluntades, who also provided the transportation to the icon.

On December 15, father James Heyd met with father Luis A. Monroy, pastor of St. Juan Pablo II & St. Thomas More to the final formal handover of the functions of custodian of the image. Father Luis will be from this date the new custodian of the Pilgrim Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
