On April 12, 2015, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Divine Mercy, instituted by John Paul II in 2000, on the second Sunday of Easter. Our Lady was picked up on Friday April 10th at 2 pm in the convent of the Concepcionistas Sisters of St. Beatriz de Silva,

and taken to the Parish of St. John the Baptist, (Diocesan) Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Tenango del Aire, in the State of Mexico. The Icon of Black Madonna attended the 6 pm Mass.

"Tenango" comes from Nahuatl language meaning "fortified place". This site has been a meeting of important intellectuals and artists because of the beauty of its scenery and proximity to both ancient capital, Mexico City and Puebla. President Porfirio Diaz in the late nineteenth century added "del Aire” (Air) due to winds that blow accros the plazas and streets.

The church consists of a nave and an integrated chapel at the north side. At the south side the cloister area is located where Pallottine fathers live since 1994. The chapel serves as a Divine Mercy sanctuary and a place of veneration of the image of Merciful Christ. It also has the relics of St. Faustina, St. John Paul II and Blessed Michael Sopocko.

DM1Each year, on the day the Feast of Divine Mercy, Tenango del Aire becomes the venue where thousands of people (about 18,000) present their petitions to the Mercy of Our Lord.

In this day of great joy, the Eucharistic ceremony was preceded by the Apostolic Nuncio to Mexico Archbishop Christophe Pierre; together with Victor Rene Rodriguez Gomez, Bishop of Valle de Chalco; Luis Artemio Calzada; auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Tepic; Fr. Bartolome Palys, Polish Pallottine and pastor of of St. John the Baptist and two priests of the community (P. Yaro and P. Kasimir) who were devoted to heating confessions all day.

DM2The Icon of the Mother of God was present in the usual Masses 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning and 6:30 pm. Furthermore, special Rosary to Our Lady of Czestochowa was prayed, facing the Icon at 6 pm.

Throughout the morning the faithful were coming. Later, Sister Eloína, foundress of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and St. Francis of Asis, developed an entertaining talk on "Sin and Mercy." Singing with guitar she welcomed all pilgrims creating an atmosphere of joy.

Jose Luis, Beatriz and their children delivered a testimonial introduction to the defense of life, later commented about the history of the Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa, on the journey and achievements of the longest journey ever attempted in the history of mankind. Then invited to show affection to the presence of the Virgin during the Eucharistic celebration that was held later. To close, the family read and invited all to the consecration.

The Icon remained after the Feast of Divine Mercy with this community of the Polish missionary priests. An urn was left in the parish office so that the faithful could deposit their testimonies, offerings and prayer requests.
