Continuing the pilgrimage through Ecuadorian territory, Our Lady in Her Czestochowa Icon from May 8 to 12 visited the Corpus Christi Parish. Fr. Roberto Carvajal received Her in the main church and in two separate chapels that are in the parish.
Father expressed that it is a honor that the visit is precisely in the month dedicated to the Virgin. He refer in his homilies to the need to protect the family and human life, from conception to natural death. Processions were made from one chapel to the other and then to the mother church, praying the holy rosary and litanies to Virgin Mary.
Then from May 12 to 16 She visited the Parish of Sacred Heart of Matovelle. As a local shepherd Fr. Ernesto Restrepo also received Her in three different places. First, in the Heriberto Maldonado Community, welcoming Her in the chapel decorated with color balloons. There She stayed for 24 hours being venerated by the parishioners. The next day, on Saturday, She went to the Libre Ecuador Community, where the children receiving catechesis formed a human chain along the street to honor the passing Blessed Virgin. The altar was with candles and decorated in blue and white colors, typical of Our Mother. Here She was also for 24 hours. Finally, She arrived at the parish church for Sunday and remained until Tuesday. Different movements that are very active in the parish, such as John XXIII and Lazos de Amor Mariano (Bonds of Marian Love), helped in the preparation of liturgical celebrations, the reception, farewell, rosary prayer and the Eucharist with the Icon as detailed in a booklet specially prepared for the occasion, corrected and approved by Bishop Ivan Minda, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Guayaquil.
In both parishes, the Prayer of John Paul II from Evangelium Vitæ was recited and prayer cards were distributed with the image of the Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
