Ecuador's parliament has rejected the legalization of abortion!
On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, the National Assembly refused to accept amendments to the Integrated Criminal Code (COIP), which contained the legalization of eugenic abortion and as a result of violence. Only 65 deputies voted in favor of the changes, and six abstained. The Ecuadorian National Assembly has 137 members. 70 votes were necessary to accept the changes. The result was a big surprise for many, because earlier it seemed that these changes would be approved with a majority of about 20 votes. Some MPs from almost all groups voted to reject these changes, which was a great surprise. Ultimately, 5 votes were missing for their adoption! The law prohibiting abortion in Ecuador has not changed!
The mobilization of pro lifers was great. Ecuadorian bishops spoke very firmly, mobilizing the faithful. Asking for fasting and prayer. The defenders of life from Guayaquil, the largest city of Ecuador, where the "From Ocean to Ocean" Czestochowa Icon now visits decided to take Her with them to the capital - Quito before the National Assembly with great prayer. People were against these changes, but most were convinced that they would be introduced, so they asked the Mother of God for a miracle. They were accompanied by father Leon Juchniewicz, a Polish missionary who has been working in Ecuador for over 30 years, and currently serves as a custodian of the traveling Icon.
The "From Ocean to Ocean" Czestochowa Icon was safely placed behind the barriers, right next to the entrance to the Parliament. Everyone who came inside looked into Her eyes. Great prayer continued throughout the world.
The invincible Victory, as the Orthodox call Our Lady of Czestochowa, has won again! Abortion in Ecuador remained illegal, thousands were saved, usually very poor children.
Crowds came to the square in front of the Parliament. The flashy group of feminists was closed in a separate sector, and after the announcement of the result of the vote they became so aggressive that the police had to intervene.
