On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., the solemn Easter Resurrection began in the parish of Our Lady of Fatima in the Pechincha district of Rio de Janeiro with the participation of the Częstochowa Icon traveling "From Ocran to Ocean."
The Holy Mass was presided over by Bishop Zdzisław Stanisław Błaszczyk (Dom Tiago), and the concelebrant was Fr. Monsignor Jan Kaleta, episcopal vicar of the Jacarépagua vicariate in Rio de Janeiro. Both priests are Polish missionaries working in Brazil and come from the Archdiocese of Krakow.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Talmir Rodrigues and his wife Adriana, responsible for the pilgrimage of the Icon in the Archdiocese of Sao Paulo. They came a long way (approx. 13 hours by car) to take the pilgrim Icon and take It to the next meetings in the interior, in the diocese of Presidente Prudente in the state of Sao Paulo.
At the end of the Holy Mass, Bishop Blaszczyk led the farewell to the Mother of God in the Częstochowa Icon. The celebrations ended at approx. 9:45. Then the Icon was prepared for the long journey by car, securing It in a special aluminum box that protects It, as well as a second one that houses a special feretron structure that allows It to be carried in processions and placed in the church presbytery.
The journey with the Mother of God passed peacefully and according to plan. They arrived at the place in Presidente Prudente at approx. 0:30. Over the next few days, the Icon will visit parishes in that region.
