Visit of the Icon to St Andrews Cathedral in Glasgow. The Cathedral was full for Holy Mass with the Russian Choir Ruskalla Capella were absolutely wonderful.

Nine Priests officiated in Holy Mass including Polish Community Priests. Father Georgy, Russian Orthodox Priest was also in attendance.

The Legion of Mary present. SPUC were also represented by Donna Nicholson – merchandise and leaflets distributed. The Knights of Saint Columba, did a wonderful job of Stewarding and transporting the Icon.

The Saint Andrews Choir and Soloist were truly inspiring . Fr Poitr Zeilinski Glasgow6, who was Ordained in Czestochowa, celebrated Mass and  gave a wonderful Homily about his childhood at Czestochowa , and his Seminary days at Jasna Gora .

The Rosary of the Unborn Children was recited during Adoration which was followed by a Powerful Benediction.

A letter of endorsement for the pilgrimage from the Archbishop of Glasgow Philip Tartaglia was read out that expressed hope  “through the intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa” for a “reawakening in our country of a profound respect for life from the moment of conception until its natural end and that all those committed to the Civilisation of Love will be strengthened in their defence of Marriage and the Family.”Glasgow1

Archbishop Tartaglia recently warned that “being tepid is the greatest danger for Christians” adding that “the new evangelisation means that somehow we have to convince all Catholics that each one of us has to be an evangeliser – that is, to live the faith more fully and personally, and to bear witness to Jesus Christ in a more direct and more conscious fashion.”

Speakers included Lech Kowalewski from Human Life International (Poland) one of the pilgrimages organising bodies  who spoke on the the Inherent Elements of The Icon of Czestochowa, explaining the "language of the icon" and what the Various Colours of The Icon Represented.Glasgow4

Joe Livingstone, organiser of events in Carfin and Glasgow, spoke about John Paul II and the  Gospel of Life and Humanae Vitae and linked it in to The Beatitudes of Jesus and The Beatitudes of The Secular Society.

Joe commented: “A truly Inspirational Evening. I thank God for the privilege and the honour of speaking on behalf of his Blessed Mother – Our Lady of Czestochowa.”
