On its return to Santander, the “Life-Mobile”, with flags flying in spite of rain, drove around the streets so that people could see the Icon before it was taken to La Anunciación. Also popularly known among the townspeople as “La Compañía” (church of the Society of Jesus), La Anunciación is a magnificent 16th-century Renaissance church not far from the Cathedral.

The Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa was received at the entrance by the parish priest and, after a monition explaining the purpose of this “From Ocean to Ocean” Pilgrimage for Life and the list of countries through which it had passed, the Icon was carried in procession to the steps beside the high altar, with over two hundred people there to welcome Our Lady.

At 8.30 p.m. there was a Mass for Life, followed by Exposition and veneration of the Icon until the church was closed later.

Next day, December 19, there was an 8.30 a.m., Mass celebrated in the presence of the Icon of Our Lady, which remained there afterwards for people who wished to pray before the Mother of God. Later, at 11.30 a.m, there was “Rosary for the Defence of Life and the Family”, and, at 12 o’clock there was a farewell Mass.
