It was already at night, at 9.30 PM on Sunday, January 13,when Our Lady of Częstochowa in Her Icon reached Castelon de la Plana, the provincial capital on the Mediterranean Sea in the autonomous community of Valencia. Although it was late, in the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of sailors, the Mother of God was welcomed by all the priests working there as well as a crowd of 150 faithful. Most of them were young families. After the Icon had been carried into the church and placed at the main altar, the Holy Rosary for the protection of life and family was said. The people prayed till late at night. Young people played the guitars and sang. They prepared the Spanish version of the Polish song “The Black Madonna” for the occasion.
On Monday, January 14, in the morning at 10.30 AM the solemn Holy Eucharist was celebrated. The homily was devoted to the defence of life. The preacher stressed the necessity to take up a great prayer in this intention.
At noon a farewell ceremony was held at the church portico. When being carried in the procession to the Life Mobil, the Icon stopped for a moment in front of the convent of Hermanitas de los Ancianos Desamparados Sisters, who take care of elderly people who have no family to help them.
At that time the organisers had some problem with the car, but all ended well and the Life Mobil left for the next meeting in Valencia only half an hour late.
