The Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa continues the visit in Vladivostok on her pilgrimage through the world in defense of life. Now the icon is in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Care (Pokrowskij Sobor), where people continuously pray in front of her. This is an historic moment, because the world pilgrimage of Our Lady starts in Vladivostok on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in the Far East. The host of this visit is the Orthodox Church, Moscow Patriarchate, diocese of Vladivostok.
On the second day in Vladivostok, (13 June 2012) Metropolitan of Vladivostok and the Coast Archbishop Veniamin met with representatives of the International Committee of the Pilgrimage. The meeting was attended by Igor Beloborodov, coordinator of the pilgrimage, Galina Maslennikova representative of Human Life International - Russia, and Aleksei Komarovsky. Archpriest Alexander Talko, rector of the cathedral who is also responsible for the charitable work of the Orthodox Church. also took part in the meeting.
This very important meeting was held in a friendly, working atmosphere. His Eminence Metropolitan Veniamin stressed the great importance of the international program "From Ocean to Ocean", which aims at the continuous prayer imploring the assistance of the Queen of Heaven, Holy Mother of God, and to remind people living in different countries of the modern world of the need to support traditional family values and the inadmissibility of actions, which are contrary to human nature and demographic development.
On Thursday, June 14 in the city center, representatives of the Committee will participate in a conference on "Current problems of social assistance provided by the Church." It is devoted to developing cooperation between Church and State in preventing abortion and supporting traditional family values.
The local media is very interested in the pilgrimage "from ocean to ocean."
June 15 morning, Our Lady will depart on the Siberian roads to Krasnoyarsk.
