March 27 events began with the mass at 8:15am. Many showed up to venerate and say bye to the Black Madonna. Our next stop was to the studio for Church Militant.com. Fr. West had an interview scheduled with Michael Voris who is the founder of this Catholic Apostolate that provides news and investigative reports about the Church. After a couple mis-turns we found the studio.
Our Lady of Czestochowa arrived around 4pm at Sts. Peter and Paul on the Westside in Detroit, MI. A mass divine mercy chaplet and time for confession were part of today's schedule beginning at 5pm. Eucharistic Adoration preceded the 7pm mass and continued after it for an all night vigil.
It was over 400 kilometres to Orchard Lake, Michigan, and it was necessary to cross the Canadian/American border again. It was a night drive and it wasn’t easy. Heavy snowfall caused close to white out conditions. At times like these both Fr. Peter West and Chris Morales realized the power of the prayers of the faithful and the Black Madonna. It seems She wanted to visit the “Polish” SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary in Lake Orchard, Michigan, particularly on the feast of Anunciation and the Day of the Holiness of Life, because there was no trouble during the journey although everybody was tired.
It wasn’t until after midnight that we arrived at the seminary which was founded in 1875 to prepare Polish seminarians to care for Polish immigrants to the USA and Canada.
After visiting Mary Wagner in prison at the Vanier Centre for Women, Our Lady traveled to St. Francis Xavier Church in Tottenham, a small town in a remote area of Ontario with a population of 6,000. For 20 years, St. Francis Xavier Parish has offered Eucharistic adoration 24/7.
Upon leaving Corpus Christi Church in Buffalo, NY, we crossed the border and visited Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. After enjoying a wonderful Polish dinner with Adam and Dorota Karcewski in Mississauga, we brought the icon into their home and prayed the rosary, alternating the decades in English and Polish.
