Our Sorrowful Mother’s Ministry is a retreat center in Vandalia, Illinois within the Diocese of Springfield founded as a Private Diocesan Association of the Christian Faithful under Bishop Thomas John Paprocki. Debbie Pryor and Vanessa Keck founded Our Sorrowful Mother’s Ministry as a way to bring others closer to their Catholic faith. Over the years it has turned into a ministry of healing and reconciliation.

Situated in the larger Chicago metropolitan area, the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Merrillville, Indiana is a spiritual home for the second largest Polish population in America, after New York City. As we see all over the country, the Polish have a great devotion to the Queen of Poland, the Black Madonna.

Indiana is nicknamed “The Crossroads of the United States.” Several major interstate highways criss-cross the state connecting Indiana with the rest of America.

On Holy Saturday April 19, Our Lady of Czestochowa returned to USA to spend the entire Easter holiday at St. Francis Borgia parish in the northeastern part of Chicago. She stayed also for Easter Monday, according to the Polish custom.

The Czestochowa Icon arrived on Tuesday of Holy Week, April 15th, at Brampton, the Canadian province of Ontario, northwest of Toronto. It was a long trip from Omaha through Nebraska - about fifteen hours long, but Our Blessed Mother's escort decided that it would be worthwhile to use a few "days off" during the Holy Week to make it possible for the Polish community of Toronto to meet Our Lady of Czestochowa.
