On May 20, Orthodox defenders of life in Moscow organized a fourth car manifestation in defense of life "Stop Abortion". It was attended by hundreds of people and dozens of cars. The meeting began in the Orthodox Church of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the center of Moscow with a prayer before the peregrinating Czestochowa icon.
Fr Maxim Obukhov, a famous leader of the Orthodox pro-life movement in Russia, preached a sermon on the involvement in the defense of human life. Then the participants ceremoniously moved the icon with singing to one of the cars so that the Mother of God also took part in this pilgrimage - a demonstration in defense of unborn children. A column of cars with flags, posters and pro-life banners set off on the inner ring road of Moscow, as always arousing great interest. This type of manifestation, which is an innovative Russian idea was held for the fourth time. Moscow is a large urban area, the main arteries are, even eight lanes in one direction and car traffic is heavy. The appearance of a column of cars with pro-life posters initially aroused great astonishment and was impossible not to notice. We must remember that even just a few years ago it was absolutely impossible to organize any demonstrations in defense of life in Russia.
On the posters one could see beautiful children with mothers, family and unambiguous slogans "Russia without abortion", "killing of unborn children is the biggest shame of Russia", "For Life" etc. Children and families also were traveling in the cars. Significant was the reaction of many drivers passing this particular column, who blew the horns and waved expressing their appreciation and solidarity. The police did not intervene, because the organizers have long sought to obtain approval for the event and finally got it. After making a full circle the column of cars returned to the church, where the Czestochowa icon was transferred,. inviting the faithful to individual prayer before her.
