On June 11th the Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa came to Vladivostok, and stood on the shore line of the Sea of Japan, which directly connects to the Pacific Ocean. She came by van, specially purchased for this purpose, which Alexei Komarovsky drove all the way from Moscow to Vladivostok via Kazakhstan, covering about 11 thousand kilometers and seven time zones.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Veniamin of Vladivostok and Primorye, the icon is now being received with great honor in Vladivostok. The arrival of the icon is featured on the home page of the Vladivostok Eparchy.

On 12 June the icon was venerated in the Pokrov Cathedral (Orthodox Church of Our Lady of Care); Wednesday it will be in the main St. Nicholas Cathedral; and Thursday it will be in the Assumption Church.  According to the website of the Eparchy, the icon was venerated today by several hundred of the faithful, including pilgrims from Ussuriisk and other cities of Primorye.  A moleben (the prayer) was served on Tuesday before the icon by Archpriest Aleksandr Talko, the head of the Department of Church Charities and Social Services of the Vladivostok Eparchy.  Father Aleksandr stated, “For all of the days of the stay of the Czestochowa icon in Vladivostok, there will be prayers before the miraculous icon requesting the Mother of God to strengthen family ties."

The atmosphere of these meetings was very warm and cordial. The joy dominated the meeting. People prayed for a long time before the icon, touched and kissed her. Reference was made to protection of human life, which is the main goal of this peregrination. People were asking many questions about the history of the Czestochowa icon. The pilgrimage "From Ocean To Ocean" itself aroused great interest in those present and in the local media.

The peregrination "From Ocean to Ocean" officially begins on June 14 (Thursday), when the Mother of God in her Icon will set off on a journey through the Far East, Siberia to Europe.  She is expected to be in Fatima for Christmas this year.
